A patient with duplication - adenocarcinoma of the lung, on the right lower lobectomy, lobular breast cancer on the left, surgery and radiotherapy already undergone. Sent for further treatment of pleural effusion on the right.

 

On the ultrasound examination we can see a small fluidothorax on the right, in the rest of the lung parenchyma we can see the„shred sign“ which shows alveolar consolidation. Pleural puncture performed and 20 ml straw-yellow fluid was extracted. Cytology showed no sign of malignant cells, activation in mesothelia. After taking antibiotics the „shred sign“ and pleural effusion disappeared.
